Can you describe SPS’s typical hiring cycle?
After you apply, your application moves into the screening process. Our recruiters search for the best match for the position based on your experience and application. If you meet the skill set we are looking for, then we move into the interview stage. Depending on the position the interview could be a one-on-one with a recruiter, phone interview, or panel/group interview. Final decisions are then communicated to you via email or phone.
I want to work for Sutter Physician Services. What are the steps?
Your application begins when you create a profile for yourself similar to a resume, that contains all of your relevant personal, work and education information, what you are looking for in a position, and general questions we ask all applicants.
Once your profile has been created, you can link it to any open position by clicking the Apply Online button.
It generally takes from 10 to 20 minutes to create a profile and apply for a position using the online application process. Once your application is submitted, it will be reviewed by our HR Team.
May I apply for multiple positions at the same time?
Yes! Apply for any position you feel you might be qualified for. Be sure to update your profile with any changes so we always have the best and most recent information about you.
What about the confidentiality of my application information?
Your information is private and is not shared with anyone outside Sutter Physician Services and its affiliate organizations. It is only used for employment purposes.
What happens to my application once a position I've applied for is filled?
Candidate information is stored in our employment database so we can meet future employment needs across our network of healthcare organizations. Once a position is filled, the candidates who are not chosen for the position are automatically released into our database. A Sutter Physician Services recruiter can run searches, looking for specific skill sets. If your skills match those the Sutter Physician Services Recruiter is searching for, they will have the opportunity to view your application.
What is unique about working for Sutter Physician Services versus another healthcare company?
If you are looking to work in healthcare – you are probably looking for stability and the chance to help people. At SPS we combine both of those with the opportunity to be at the forefront of healthcare innovation which has allowed us rapid company growth. You’ll have the best of both worlds and will find yourself in a place where you can really enhance your career.
Why don't you show pay ranges for all your positions?
Salaries are based on the depth and length of work experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, and other evaluated skill sets for the position. The compensation package is sometimes quoted after confirmation of the above components.
Will you contact me about the progress of my application?
We will let you know via email when your application is received. If a hiring manager determines your skills match the needs of the position, you will be contacted by one of our recruiters. Our recruiters will be happy to answer questions you have about the role and speak to you further about your qualifications.
Help That Might Help You in Your Pursuit of a Great Job
Are there any open house events coming up where I could speak to someone in-person?
We share all of our hosted events on our careers website (www.spscareers.org) under Recruitment Events. Visit our page for a list of upcoming events, or by visiting us on Facebook. Don’t want to wait for an Open House? Email us at SPSRecruitmentstaff@sutterhealth.org and we can get you connected to a recruiter right away.
Do I need letters of recommendation?
You don’t. But it is always nice to provide a 3rd party review of your success. If you can, then do.
Do recruiters look at prospective candidate profiles on social media sites?
All companies are different in terms of what they look at. Your profile should always reflect the best possible you! Make sure your privacy settings are set to ensure you are only sharing what you want to share with WHO you want to share it with.
Do recruiters read my cover letter? Really?
We do! If you send one to them, they will read it. Try to capture your personality and experience in a cover letter. Keep it simple.
I do not have a background in healthcare, should I still apply?
You should. Absolutely. There are a number of non-technical positions that would greatly benefit from experience in customer relations, hospitality, leadership, logistics, operations and training / development. We are seeking the right person first, and many times, their pedigree second.
Is a cover letter required?
It depends on the position but it seldom hurts to provide one. Make sure you (or a super smart friend) check and double check it for errors in spelling and grammar. Your first impression is a lasting one.
Is there a way I can see a description of internships available online?
Yes! We post our internship opportunities directly on the careers webpage when available. A quick tip would be to search using keyword: internship.
Is there a way I can see a job description for an entry-level position online?
When visiting our website, we provide all the information on each job, including the description in the posting itself.
